Southern charm

I'm blogging today from the DFW airport as I wait for my flight. It's my turn to give an award.
I have never seen paralleled manners to this city. I have encountered families and certainly people with impecable manners but an entire city? I was coming to the airport early this morning (about 4:50am CST) and everyone from the front desk clerks at the hotel to the taxi driver...to the airport security...who helped me place my laptop back in it's protective sleeve-who takes the time to help someone else at the airport these days, it's kill or be killed it seems. I have thuroughly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend this city to travelers. I most recently purchased a few items for my family and my hands were pretty full but it was manageable; I had the items and the sales clerk lept from her space to help me with my items. She is from Africa and obviously was taught well from a very young age. She talked about her family and her father and his business with people a little bit, but I complimented her on her awareness and manners and she just lit up like a flashlight. Go make someone's day!

Oh, and...they have free internet stations for your use...who does that? I'm truly impressed Dallas, I'll be back!

We fly to DFW at least 6 or 7 times a year and they are always wonderfully helpful!!! I have looked every time I am there for the free internet stations and have not been able to find them. Do you mind letting me know what terminal you found them in and maybe a brief description of what they look like? I will be flying through there at the end of March and would love to be able to check email while I have my layover in DFW! Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give!

Jennifer- I was in the Delta terminal at gate E 13 and the free internet stations were just across from one of the stores that offers snacks and magazines...around e 15. I hope this is helpful, I have really enjoyed Dallas.

Thanks for sharing this southern charm with us. It's amazing what a different attitude can be found just by crossing borders. I am really anxious to visit there now.

When I lived in Texas I would fly my 10 year old daughter in and out of that airport all the time. They were always so kind and treated her very well when she would fly solo.

I came across your blog and love all the tips. I wish everyone could be more polite and respectful. Keep up the good work!

I lived in Texas (outside of Dallas) for several years - from my early to late teens. Even at that age, the friendliness of the folks in that state made an impression on me. My other half (who was born in Texas) and I plan to visit Texas again in a few years. Knowing that a warm welcome still awaits us, I'm looking forward to it even more!
